TASSC Training
OVERVIEW
TASSC’s Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training; folks will learn how to engage Indigenous People and include them in the narrative, the workplace, spaces, systems and services in a meaningful and purposeful way that promotes respect and an honest awareness of our distinctiveness, resilience, culture, history and gifts. As we continue to focus on becoming a more inclusive society in a time of Truth and Reconciliation, it is important to understand the role that policy and legislation played in facilitating the attempted elimination of the First People of Turtle Island, now Canada. We will introduce Indigenous concepts of community wellness. We will explore Indigenous histories, societal structures, contemporary issues and the future landscape.
OBJECTIVES
OUTCOMES
TASSC will measure outcomes by way of pre and post surveys to ascertain the knowledge base of each learner before and after training. TASSC also commits to an ongoing relationship and dialogue to ensure any key recommendations or follow through items that emerge as a result of this training are understood and shared. Information gathered will also work to inform the future design of materials and content as well as provide an understanding of the progression of knowledge attained and any thought or behavioral changes resulting from the training. The goal is to ensure that a simple, accessible and highly interactive training is crafted to meet diverse needs of learners.
The primary goal is to increase cultural sensitivity among learners which will promote a greater sense of confidence and ability in both engaging members of the urban Indigenous community but also to affect systems and organizational level transformation that supports enhanced outcomes for Indigenous people.
All learners/participants will be issued a TASSC Basic Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training Certificate upon successful completion of training.
